Original Peerless factory coin!

Just a nice story,

Last week I cut off the right rear wing, which had severe accident damage, and was badly repaired.

Right after the wing came off there was a coin lying on the ground in the cutting dust.

I picked it up and put it aside, and carried on making the replacement wing fit.

At the end of the day I remembered the coin and took a closer look, and it appeared to be a 1958 halfpenny coin!

Nothing special so far, but this body was originally on a left hand drive car, imported to the Netherlands.

So I assume one of the cooperators in the Peerless factory must have lost this coin, while assembling the car.

I’ve cleaned the coin and it looks like it came from the die yesterday, not used at all.

I’m going to keep this with the car, as it obviously belongs to it.

Cheers,

Erik

That's a great story.

When my father was rebuilding his cottage his builder mate said "you sometimes get a penny behind these old fireplace beams" sure enough there was a tinkle and in the rubble was a silver shilling. He said it was put there by the original builder to give the next builder a drink for his labours...so have a beer and thank the workforce at Peerless.

Spoke to dad yesterday, he said that he lost a penny, he thinks he lost it behind the right rear wing in the late 50's...................

Put it back Erik, that's the counterpoint to the finely tuned suspension balance.

Failure to do so will only result in spending thousands of gilders needlessly on re-establishing the timewarp equilibrium loving engineered into the design.

Hey I could write party political speeches with rubbish like that.

Lovely story Erik, put a smile on my face.

I thought the coin was a small contribution to the restoration costs.

I could buy a beer from it, but i'm still recovering from the 2 1/2 beers i had in Malvern

Thanks for the great replies.

Sorry Eric, I've only just caught up with your lovely story. I agree with Gary it should be put back in the car, perhaps you could put it behind a small piece of perspex on the dash so everyone could see it, it would make a good talking point.  More of the stuff of fairy tales, makes life worth living.
