Heater valve

Hello all,

It never rains ...

We find ourselves needing a heater valve (well it serves us right for using the car all the time like this), but I'm struggling to identify it.  I'm sure it is a standard one from something, but it isn't TR according to my parts books, and isn't mentioned on our own Spares page.  Can anyone help with the right info?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Hi Nick,

On a Phase 2 you may still have the manual Tap type but I think it's standard TR2/3. If you want fancy in-cabin control like the Warwick just get the standard TR4 cable valve. All the usual suspects sell them as far as I can remember. If you have to buy it from Moss make damd sure you get a receipt and be prepared to take it back three times !

Well, a bit more research later and I've identified it as one from an early Mini, Riley Elf etc.  It isn't the same as the later TR one, which suggests it may have been a mod when the car was rebuilt - any Phase 2 or Warwick owners out there who can shed light?  (good trick that - takes some practice!)

The valve has a lozenge shaped flange on the bottom which bolts on to a similar adapter which screws into the familiar position in the head, and the cabin control is a lever which moves up or down in a chromed slot positioned just to the left of the main instrument panel (between it and the glove box).  I haven't compared with other Peerlesses - just assumed it was standard - but now I'm not so sure.  It all looks very professional, but that is true of all Harry Foster's work on the car, not all of which is standard.

Anyway, problem solved, until the next one!

Best wishes to all,

Nick
