The fifty-year wait is over! Peerless and Warwick owners worldwide can now rest easy about missing or damaged glass. Not just front and rear screens, but complete and improved glass for our cars.
With much research and development from the team at Auto Windscreens, and funding from the TR Registers Spares Development Fund for the tooling, the PWOR has now secured future availability of PW glass. A huge thank-you to both for their support.
All laminated glass is made to current European R43 and BS857 standards. Front and rear screens are laminated for increased safety. Rear side windows are also laminated; front side windows remain toughened to withstand sustained use of your functional window winders.
The price of each front and rear screen contains a small percentage donation to the SDF to recover the tooling costs. Now at the moment these prices are based on an order of 10 units together in one batch. If youre interested give Nigel a call, or better still, email him with what you need and hell provide the correct codes etc to qualify for the batch discount. The superb pricing is as follows:
Complete set of replacement glass is just £357.25 + VAT, ex-works. Set comprising of: 1no front (non heated) 1no rear (non heated) 2no rear quarter side glass 2no front side glass
Complete set of replacement heated glass is just £462.83 + VAT, ex-works. Set comprising of: 1no front (heated) 1no rear (heated) 2no rear quarter side glass 2no front side glass
Variations are possible, so if youd like heated rear but not front, deduct the difference in price of the less expensive screen and so on.
Individually, the costs + VAT, ex-works are: Non-heated front £106.47 Non-heated rear £120.78
Heated front £165.33 Heated rear £167.50
Side glass is £20 a piece. Shipping costs have deliberately been omitted due to huge fluctuations in quoted prices by couriers. All glass will be made ready for shipment or collection. Although screens are daily shipped worldwide by AW, they recommend insurance highly.
With such affordable prices, I can only suggest your old glass could look very grubby if retained with new screens. The difference in clarity cant be underestimated. Also available from AW is tinting for owners wanting to reduce the affects of UV particularly useful to cars in hot territories. Pricing varies in accordance with the tints required. Again, email your requests to Nigel.

If all the above could email me with definite quantities and heated, non heated, sun strip etc then we can get an order together as the windscreen guys need to see this progressing.
this is a copy of the article that is going into print (as I write this) in the next addition of The TR Register's Magazine, TRaction. but you lucky people get to see it first!
Thanks must go to Gary Stretton at Classics Monthly Magazine (other classic car magazine are available...but not as good!) and his dogged determination to get the screen project back on track. We both went down to see the guys at Pilkingtons on the Isle of Sheppey in September to show them the bucks that we had. They took lots of measurements, sucked a considerable amount of air through their collective teeth and came to the conclusion that they could use them, Whu hoo!
Gary returned at the end of October to follow the process of how their production system works (which was surprisingly different to Auto Windscreens) and with his ever faithful snapper on board he yet again, has produced a fine article released in the December addition. We then met up in Oxfordshire on a damp Saturday morning ( gary was attending a FBHVC meeting) and I took charge of our first rear screen sample. I then hot footed it over to Leicestershire to see Rob Comber and trial fit the screen into his nearly finished Ill get it to the IWE 2014 I promise Phase 2. All seemed good there so I think were on!
Prices are as follows:
Front screen standard £155.00
Front screen heated £265.00
Rear screen standard £153.00
Rear screen heated £255.00
These costs are all plus VAT and Delivery (which they state would be a fixed charge at £25 for the UK) and they can also add a tinted blue or green shadeband to the top of the front screen for an extra tenner!. I think these are excellent prices for a totally British made product.
I have names on a list from the previous incarnation of this project but I would like to ask you once again to get in touch and just let me know what you need as we need to get a sizeable order together to make it worthwhile for the production team. I have also added this to the forum so If you want to go on there and put your name down that would be great and it will show the rest of the world how active we are!
Please put you name down on this thread. some people may have changed what they intended to do with their car (some may have sold them on etc) so get your updated, once in a life time, not to be missed order in so I can get definite numbers.
once I have collect this list I will instruct you all on how to order, pay and take delivery of your fresh, new, shiny glass!
Oh yea, forgot to mention how good Gary is on the Pan Pipes as well....................
I am clearly in need of a set of front and rear screen for the Peerless, so that's easy.
The Warwick front screen is starting to delaminate in the lower corners, so a spare would be smart. I can't believe I am saying this, but someone is talking me into two front screens and one rear screen - all unheated.
Oh boy. Plus transport to California. Does Santa charge for shipping?.
I could use a set of left and right door side windows for a Phase 1 if those will be available.
I need a new front screen non heated with tinted band at top. Also need a set of door glass.
Would it make any sense to ship all the glass to the states in one shipment to a like minded supplier that could send smaller parcels for a handling fee? I have no idea of overseas shipping charges so I am not sure if it makes sense.
Gary, can I order a new front screen for my Phase 2? it will need to be shipped to California. Paint will be done by mid summer, so hopefully back on the road early next year. Thanks. Greg
Is there any glass now available or coming down the pike? My friend Paul who is restoring the Irish built Warwick V8 car would be interested in a set. Please let me know.
Long time no speak as it were, hope you and yours are safe and well in these troubling times and what progress has Paul made?
This whole glass thing has really gone pear shaped as we seem to have lost most of the contacts we once had, I guess large companies do have a turn round of staff etc but you would think there would be a process or handover involved. I also heard from Markus that they had been taken over and are now in the hands of the Japanese.
I've had a quick look on their website and there is a link: classics@pilkington.com
I will email Markus and ask him how he is getting on as I know he had several sets of glass ordered for different "specials" and when last we spoke he was still waiting after placing an order 4 months plus.

Jim. If it's any help, I can PM you the email address I used for ordering and the delivery of my glass although, as Nigel states, it's highly likely it's no longer in use. I suppose it's possible it may divert to someone that might be able to help.
If possible we should take an inventory of everyone who needs glass and place a bulk order. I don't know if that will help with the per piece price but that possibility always exists. As for other owners in the US I would propose that we could have the glass shipped to one location here in the country so that the overseas shipping is reduced to one shipment vs many. I have spoke with the shop that is helping with my car and they have expressed willingness to be a US landing designation for the glass and we could then ship out to the others via UPS or FedEx at domestic rates.
All we need to do is find someone at Pilkington's who can assist with this need. I have spoken with customer service in Ohio and they have adjusted the way they do their business and instructed me that someone from their regional sales would contact me for additional details, that was three weeks past and still no call. I call their customer service about once a week when I learn more I will update.
If we could start a tally of who needs what we can perhaps motivate them if they know the volumes of glass that will be ordered.
Given the difficulty that there appears to be in getting new glass, I think I'll keep my original front and rear screens as spares. I had been thinking of offering them for sale to other club members but given my history with windscreens, that might not be a smart move.
iv just had a full set of glass delivered from Pilkington Classics The Front Screen Heated was £399 Plus Vat Rear Screen Heated £341 Plus Vat & the side Glass was £95 plus vat each
The guy I have been talking to was Mr Luke Emms email Luke.Emms@nsg.com telephone 0781649545o hope that helps
