Stupid question about knock on hubs.
(Preview)
My understanding regarding knock on hubs has always been that the spinner should screw onto the hub in the direction of forward rotation of the wheel. This, as I understood it, means as the wheel rotates in a forward direction, it has the effect of tightening the spinner. So, in effect, on the right han...

Boot lid/bonnet seal
(Preview)
I'm about to order the windscreen seal from Woolies (R398-358) and wanted to get the bonnet/boot seal at the same time. Would Woolies R100 be the correct selection and would this do for both the bonnet and boot lid? If not, what would be the best choice?

Dashboard covering
(Preview)
I think I'm correct in saying the original material in which the P1 dashboards were covered is now unobtainable. Has anyone discovered a suitable alternative? Failing so, I'm considering (heresy, I know) having the dash vinyl wrapped. I've seen some rather tasty leather effect vinyls along with o...

LED headlight bulbs BANNED
(Preview)
When I fitted LED headlight bulbs in October I didn't expect them to be banned, but that's what's happened. They will now result in an MOT failure. When I checked before fitting, HID units were banned, but not LED, but that changed on 1st Jan.I This is a bit dissapointing, seems it's OK for all the MPVs...

Peerless door waist seals and profiles
(Preview)
First of all i don't know if these are called waist seals on the Peerless, but on other cars they are. I mean the alloy strip that is screwed to the top of the door skin, and holds a thin strip of rubber. On my car these are badly damaged by someone putting self tapping screws through for holding the window fr...

Fuel filler and petrol cap
(Preview)
I'm about to start plumbing in the fuel tanks and as part of this I need to order two new filler caps. I notice on both the Rimmer and Moss sites that there is a chrome escutcheon plate and fibre washer (not available) that fit below the cap. Now I can't remember removing an escutcheon plate nor is there one...

Starter motor
(Preview)
I have recently got my cousin's Peerless back on the road after a short lay off since 1978! One problem I still have is a very sluggish starter motor, despite taking it off and cleaning it. Bendix is also temperamental. Nigel suggested it might be time for a replacement but cautioned I need to be care...

Gearbox cover
(Preview)
The gearbox cover of the P2 has been cut up a bit in the past. Fortunately a large piece of this was with the car, and i will put it back where it belongs. But i have no other pieces to put back, and the gearbox cover of the P1 has been cut like this also. So i'm a bit in the dark of how it's supposed to look like. Is t...

Peerless fuel tank mounting?
(Preview)
Hi all, Can anyone please tell me how the fuel tanks in the sills are supposed to be mounted? In the P2 they were just lying in the sills, on some pieces of foam. Soon i hope to make new tanks for both my P1 and P2 and i don't really want to put them back just lying in there. Tanks! :)

Rear view mirrors on a Peerless
(Preview)
Last week i put a Pair of Triumph TR6 mirrors on the Phase 2. The effective diameter of the mirror glass is 110mm. To be honest i couldn't see much in it, because the original mirror glass is flat. I couldn't find any separate convex mirror glasses for sale so i bought a pair of second hand motorcycle mirro...

Mesh behind Peerless P grill?
(Preview)
On a Phase 1 Peerless, was there a mesh behind the aluminum P casting, or was the front of the radiator exposed? Seems like there should be something, but I can't see anything in period photos. Thanks for the help as always! Dean

Reversing light switch alternatives and interior light.

I know how the original reversing light switch layout went with the switch mounted on top of the grp trans tunnel but has anyone come up with a better alternative layout? I'm trying to finish off all the internal electrics and this is one of the things still frustrating me. The other one is the interior...

Original Interior Colors
(Preview)
I would like to restore the interior of my Peerless to the original colors and materials. I have fragments of grey leather seats which I think are original to the car, but they were under a crappy red vinyl redo and are soaked with glue and discolored to a dark grey/brown. This press photo looks like a li...

Tail light gaskets.
(Preview)
Bought a pair of the rubber tail light gaskets from the ebay retailer that Gary recommended some 6 years ago. Amazingly, they still come in at £14.00 a pair, same as back in 2014! Way better than Holdens £18.00 each Anyway, the point of this post is that the gaskets come with a 'seat' that fits under the l...

Fuel pipe sizes and routing
(Preview)
Just getting round to installing the fuel pipes prior to mounting the body. A couple of questions. Firstly, I am using 6mm i/d pipe from rear to front as this is the size of pipe that fits the SU carbs. I've replaced the 2 SU pumps with Huco items from Southern Carbs after reading some positive reviews of...

steering, centre tie rod
(Preview)
just a quick browse through the TR site and came across this which is a TR2/3 steering tie rod. Also this one too. What caught my eye was: A. the welds on the straight section. I know Peerli/Warwick's had a weld either end. I put this down to both having a wider track than TR's but didn't know ST did the same...
