Badges

While talking with our leader Nigel yesterday (did anyone hear the clang as I dropped that name in?) I mentioned the Peerless badges that should be on my Phase 1.

In the bag of bits that came with the car, I have 2 small Peerless script chrome badges and 2 round plastic badges.  I understand that the script badges are for a Phase 2 car (willing home invited) but sourcing some nice round badges is tricky.

While I was visiting a supplier last week and spending hours in airport lounges, I created an artwork for the round badge.  Does anyone have a better or more accurate one?

Does anyone have experience of a cheap method of making one?  Nigel mentioned that it's an injection moulded part and that the lettering is gold, but I'll investigate dome polyurethane printed ones which can be gold printed and post the cost up here.

Hi
I did take a photo of my Phase 1 bonnet badge. You can see it here: http://bccj.multiply.com/photos/album/11/Peerless_GT#photo=2

Hello Gareth!

Are you sure that the script badges are for a phase 2? I have a phase 2 car and the only badges I have are the round ones in plastic, with the crome ring around them.

Hi all,

The chroe rings around the badges are easy to source.
They are the rings from Tr3 gauges.
Clever guys, those Peerless people!

Hi Marcus, I'm not sure but I think that's what Nigel told me!  The script badge goes just above the front numberplate, and on the bootlid on Phase 2 cars, the round badge goes just ahead of the bonnet and on the bootlid on Phase 1 cars.

Nice photo, thank you!  Do you know if it's the original colours?  Mine have been (badly) repainted but I believe Nigel has a couple of original ones somewhere.  Wonder if he's been locked in the NEC show from Sunday...?

I knew I forgot something in that last post!

Dektek in the UK quoted £24.50 each based on a quantity of 2-20 off, with £5.50 postage.  I've sent the artwork off to another supplier to see if it's competitive.

Hello again Gareth!

If the script badges are from a phase 2 I could be interested in them, if you want to part with them. You could e-mail me directly at marcus.andang@gmail.com and tell me what you want for them in that case. If you have pictures of them it could be helpful in any case.

No problem, Marcus.  I'll dig them out and send you some photos.

I got a price from another supplier on the round badges and for doing them in vinyl foil with a polyurethane dome they charge £6.44 each or £12.88 for 4 (all prices plus vat) and for more than 10 they're £2.35 each.

I'll get one made and if they're any good I'll let you all know.

right you lot, listen up!biggrin

Phase 1:
one round badge to the front nose and one round badge (as far as  I am aware) on the rear deck between the rear screen and the boot lid (trunk for those across the water!)

Phase 2:
one round badge to the front nose and definatlly one round badge on the rear deck between the rear screen and the boot lid (trunk for those still across the water!)
also one script badge on the front panel above the number plate, below the grill/mouth. not on the flat of the grill appature but on that funny little angled bit between.disbelief

script badges were remanufactured by JB Emblems I think back in the 90's but a quick troll trough tinterweb found no trace. I do think he was exhibiting at the classic motor show so have a look in your programe?

Thanks Nigel, I knew you'd know, you know?

What were you telling me about the colour of the round badges?  Is there supposed to be a gold hairline around the black circle?

Can you mark up the picture I did, or post up a photo?  Then I can send it with the artwork I did and get a sample made.
