Peerless GT- interior carpeting

I am the new owner of 53 and this car represents a lifelong dream of owning a cool non-ordinary vintage car.

The Peerless needs a new interior carpeting kit. Does anyone know where in the US I can get one or which equivalent ready made carpeting kit would fit this car?

Would a TR3 or Aston DB4 kit work ?

Thank You for any assistance

Gregor

Hello Gregor,

Off-the-shelf carpet sets for a Peerless are as likely as a male Brit winning a Wimbledon title...

If the old carpets are available to use as patterns, then some tin cardboard (or old house carpet) to make your own templates is best. An automotive trimmer will have no problems stitching together a set according to your tastes. I'd suggest sound deadening material under the carpet also.

In the UK I'd recommend www.woolies-trim.co.uk
They can supply fittings and material to match the original spec.

Good luck with 53. That's Herbie's number...

All the best
Gary

Whoops!
That should have read as THIN cardboard.

Tin cardboard isn't a material in existence to my knowledge.

did it for me, and does'nt hold any moisture after the underwater Malvern expedition, if you use the car in the rain, or if you lend the car to magazine editors.

It will be a bit of a faff to fit it into the "sunken" sections behind the seats, but that would be true of any carpet, (and only other Peerless owners will look under the seats anyway).

Thank You Gary and Frank for your pro opinions.

In the mean time I hacked some household carpeting into my car - it will not win prices but does not look like a dog pen (which it did resemble)

...off to my second question - see headlight rims

(I just love this car)

Gary see www.tincarboard .com ...disbelief

Hi Gregor, carpet is difficult due to all the angles but I found that you could cut it to go oneway then slit it and go another... then super glue the lot togetherwink
also you can trim it with leather cloth on the edges, if you email me i can send you a pic or two of the original look of the carpets....but only if you leave the headlamps alonefurious biggrin
