Fuel tank fitting

Hello,

anyone care to enlighten me as to how the Phase 1 fuel tanks are secured in the sills?

Many thanks

Secured?  This is a Peerless Gary!

I understand that the weight of fuel, and the door being in the way, stops them moving upwards.  If AH has done a good job on the Sills, they shouldn't move downwards, but we're not all that well endowed. There might be a lump of wood at the front, to stop them moving forwards, optional woodscrew and woodworm.  Although it might feel like it, there's not really enough acceleration to move the tanks backwards.

However if they are not baffled internally, the car will accelerate and leave the fuel behind, the way it gushes out of the fillers is most impressive!

On a more serious note, mine have a (new) peice of wood at the front and are bonded onto hard rubber spacers so that the water can run under and out the drain holes.   I know that Nigel has foam-filled his sills to stop any movement and add a bit of strength.

As long as they have fuel in, be happy.

Thanks Frank,

enlightening AND funny as always. Well, one of them is baffled, t'other isn't so I'll be watching for jettisoned fuel in my rear view mirror. The door hinges AH repaired look like a great fit, so fingers crossed.

More soon.

Gary
