I'm intending to re-use as many of the original internal panels as possible and am in the process of restoring them. The following pictures show the passenger side flitch panel as it was originally attached to the front wing closure panel. Instead of running at right angles to each other, the wing closure panel runs at a very obvious angle from top to bottom. Both panels are still held together by the grp bandage to the rear. Given that the wing closure panel has a 90 degree lip moulded into it, I would have thought the lip should run straight down the front edge of the flitch panel rather than the angle it actually sits at. The driver side was the same but the two panels separated when they were removed. I suspect this would just be part of the 'hand made' nature of these cars.
Ideally, I'd like to reinforce this join with alloy angle bonded and bolted in place but this would necessitate both being in line with each other. I appreciate this may mean making up new templates and casting new wing closure panels but I think this would look better than this odd looking join.

Never understood why anyone would want to introduce alloys/bolts/rivets/chewing gum/news paper/chicken mesh (and I once found plaster, actual wall finishing plaster ) to GRP...just clean back the old surface (rotary wire brush/acetone etc) and build up with ...GRP? KISS
