Rear axle end float

Within a few weeks i'll have all the parts of the rearaxle ready for assembly.

Only thing missing is the amount of end float the bearings need.

Can anyone please help me out on this?

Thanks, Erik

Hi Erik, I am going through the the same process as you. Will have mine re-machined in a couple of weeks. A friend of mine who is a good engineer....unlike my self is going to set it up for me. He said he would assemble the hubs and run them on a test bed to get the greese alround and warm them up before final assembly/torque.

This sounds OK to me what do the great unwashed of the forum think

Hi Tony,

I've spoken to Alan/one of my TR friends/and my old workshop manual n notes and we all think that perhaps possibly the same torque settings as the TR.

When I had the TR4 I stripped the rear brakes down for the MOT and the half shaft is the same as ours, I think they must have used TR half shafts and turned them down..Makes sense because they use the same shims and outer bearing/drum/brakes/back plate etc.

Sorry for the delay and I do appreciate the feeling when know one returns there thoughts. I once....and only once put a query on the TR reg web forum about steering....a complete TR related matter.........4 months later not one reply!
