alternative international?

Hi guys and girl,smile
I've just picked this one up from the tr forum, chris mentioned it to me on site, may be a way of getting together this year?

The TR Drivers Club has kindly invited TR Register members to attend their National Weekend during the weekend of 17-19 August at Skreens Park, Chelmsford, please see the post in the Main TR Forum for further details: http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index....showtopic=11005 and see the following link for details of the location: http://www.skreenspark.org/index1.php

there is only limited room and we have to book in advance so who's up for it?confused

Yes Please, count me in!

Might the Historic Specials Show also be a contender?  This is usually the first weekend in August, but is till TBC on Cotswolds WP site.  I knpw we can't do them all, but I'm definitely in for the one that is declared as "The alternative".

I'm still irritated that I'm not entitled to put the Plimsoll Line on the side of the car, had to do the shopping by Mail Order today.

Found it - 12th August

This is a cracking little show, they always make us welcome, and if you are bored you can always sneak off to watch the gibbons gibboning, etc.

Can't speak for the camping tho, haven't tried the site...

Dear All,

Now we are all "back to normal" many of you are asking for a meeting of club members somewhere in the UK whilst we still have some "Summer" left. Clearly the need is great and your committee is considering what can be done.

The TRDC have very kindly offered us space in the revised venue - their first attempt like ours, was washed out. Their needs are much smaller than ours and their new venue will take some TR Register members but will be limited to 50 cars.

I have discussed the details of the TRDC offer with their Chairman. The invitation only arrangement is positively in place and I congratulate them on a fine gesture of friendship between our two clubs. This could be a delightful venue and occasion for the TR3A owners to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of that car. We do though both have really serious concerns about the TRDC event being overrun by more TR Register cars than they can take on the day, with possible disappointment occurring in both clubs at the result.

Apart from these celebrations there are hundreds of other model owners within TR Register who are still looking for an occassion to meet up with friends as usual in 2007. We will not be able to replicate a "Malvern International Weekend" but we may be able to utilise an existing show venue and its facilties to bring together a large group of club members.

I am grateful to club member Harry Dent for a really useful suggestion for this and subsequently have been in discussion with the organiser of the 17th Knebworth Annual Classic Motor Show on 26/27 August - the Bank Holiday Weekend. Located near Stevenage in Hertfordshire it will be within reach of many members. This event could possibly take us as paying visitors and we could have an area set aside for the club. Other facilities for food toilets autojumble are also available as part of the normal show set up. There would of course be a number of other marques there on site. The show also has an arena and maybe we could just finish off the TS2 tour in the Arena there. It could be a really fitting end to the group to group relay.

Your Committee are in full support of these proposals and have asked me to go ahead with the arrangements.
In principal all of this could be put in place provided we move quickly but as you will realise there will be details to resolve. I will be emailing all Group leaders with this message and seeking their responses.

If you have comments please respond in the usual way and let me have your reactions and questions.

I will report further in the next few days.

Yup, I'm planning to come over and camp Saturday evening.

However I'll make sure that I check with the Wildlife Park before I leave.  They may very well want to cancel the show, and I'm not sure I want to drive the car through waist deep disenfactant.  I've only just cleaned it up after the Malvern Boating incident.

The wildlife park and the fairthorpe web sites show no mention of the event not happening.

Update from Cotswold Wildlife Park just in.

Foot and Mouth disease update

The Park is open but basic bio-security precautions are in place.  The Childrens Farmyard is sectioned off from public access.  Our visitors also have been diverted on a different path for viewing the Tapirs and Capybaras, otherwise all areas of the park are fully open
Regards
