Warwick Exhaust

Hi all

Call me a wimp but I have decided to fit a silencer to the Warwick that actually silences the beast a little.....

The current silencer is part of a custom made system made in the late 70's so it has done well, however the silencer at the back no longer does anything.  Has anyone got any recomendations for either standard backboxes that look ok (I dont want a dustbin type as fitted to most of the local boys Saxo's!) or has anyone used a custom exhaust builder they can recommend?

Thanks

Joe

I used a 2" Sports System with a small round back box.  I originally bought it from M***, but most of the TR suppliers (Rimmers, etc) offer something similar.
Just the box will cost around £65, it fits up into the space in the chassis and doesn't foul the spare wheel-well, looks OK, and kills the worst of the high frequency TR rasp.  I wouldn't call it very quiet, but it's sort of low-frequency melodious and doesn't upset the neighbours.
Essentially the rest of the "system" up to the sports 4-branch manifold is just a straight 2" pipe, replaced at regular intervals as it gets savaged by road humps.

Will we see you at Malvern this year?

I fitted a TR 3 long box under the rear, it just goes in nice and tight against the spare wheel well and on long haul it doesnt sound to bad.

Thanks for the replies.

I have now removed the whole system as their is a hole just ahead of the rear silencer.... That will be why it is noisy!

Have either of you tried getting the car on/off a cross channel ferry?  Thinking ahead to the 2008 Le Mans trip the shortest route from where I live is to get a ferry at portsmouth, will the car get on it without loosing the exhaust?

Yo Joe,
I've used Portsmouth quick cat a few times and had no problems, except once on the return when "we" that is cobra's, astons, porches and little old me were held back till all the other euro stuff had boarded. When we got round the corner we found out why, the Cat was bobbing up and down so much the guy on the back was disapeering below the dockside and then shootin up so you could just see his ankles in the windscreen!!
They loaded us by shoutin "NOW" at which point you dumped the clutch and shot on to the rear deck and then braked like hell because of all the other machinery already on board!doh
also used the train and had no probs.

I have solved the problem, Janspeed are making up a new silencer for me and my local garage are welding up the whole in the old system.

Hopefully the Warwick will now be pleasently loud......

Thanks all for the help.
