Very impressive Mike!

A significant and very satisfying milestone in the rebuild.

Initially, I wasn't sure about your choice of colour but it suits the car very well.

Looking forward to seeing this at a show sometime soon.

Delighted for you. Very smart. You are going to get them anyway, as we all do, but Id keep a saving jar onboard for a pound every time someone says they love your Aston. Aston?, I say. Common as muck!

Gary, I got that even before I had her painted in an Aston colour. Aston was always the top guess followed by Bristol (?).

Very happy for you Mike.

Did it sink in yet or does it still feel unreal that it's now painted?

Very nice color and very high quality finish.

Congratulations!!!

Thanks for all the positive comments, guys. Still feels a bit surreal atm. I've looked at a grey grp bodyshell for so long now, I can't quite believe it. I've now been to see it at the paint shop (the pics were emailed to me by them) and am even more delighted. The photos don't actually do it justice.

Erik, the only thing sinking atm is my bank balance!

I have to say the revelation for me wasn't so much when I finally got the paint on it was when I dropped it back down. I built it up on pallets and wheels so I could spray the underside of the sills and the roof all in one go. It lived in the workshop like this for about 12 months as I was working on all the lower parts of the panels and then spraying it ( as I didn't have a lift)

about mid night One night I decided that was enough (governed by running out of paint mainly disbelief) and I slowly dropped it down onto some old wheels...... the running height was such a shock I went over to my next door neighbours (fellow petrolhead) and dragged over to the workshop to look at this leadslead of mine!

Have to agree. I've been in some pretty low-slung exotica in my time but the Peerless is on a (literally) different level. Thankfully, my part of the world is still relatively speed bump/traffic calming free.

Paint shop had a little mini lift thing to get it up in the air.

I actually bought one myself. A drill operated scissor lift that can get a car up to a reasonable height for working underneath. Sills on the Peerless would have been a bugger of a job otherwise.

good idea, I'm still looking for a pair of those wheel ramps that wind up with a drill, they've stopped making them so I'm tracing second hand items if I can confuse

This is exactly the same as the one I bought but it wasn't from Halfrauds and it wasn't anything like that price. Sadly, I can't remember where I bought it from.

Sorry, don't know how to do the linky thing.

It's actually an excellent little lift and can be used to lift the front, rear or entire car a good distance off the floor.

I love this ramp.

I bought one of the non adjustable versions "el cheapo"
So i had to cut it and make it the right width for the Peerless.

Gives you plenty of height to work on the car.

Altercation about their kit, Nigel?

I bought the adjustable one but never used it on anything other than the narrowest set up for the Peerless. If I needed to adjust it to one of the other two available widths for my daily driver, it would probably take longer to do than the job itself using axle stands.

I talked to these guys at the NEC some years ago as they had a tall red tool box/sliding draws unit etc on the stand at a very reasonable price of £400 +VAT. They had a show offer of dropping the VAT off which was great. I said I'd have one there and then but this being Sunday they said they had sold out of their stock at the show. I said no problem as my son lived "up there way" and I could collect, they said that was fine and I could have it at the same money.

My family heard about this and clubbed together and gave me the £400 as birthday/Christmas monies and the next time we went up to see Adam we called in. They denied all knowledge of dropping the VAT off and if I wanted it I had to pay the full amount. I really wanted to tell them to stuff it but the family had all put in and I felt I had to have something to show for it.

In the end I had to put it through the business and claim the VAT back that way, I am fortune enough to be able to do so but I felt that really wasn't the point, especially for others hmm
