Lawrence Tune Peerless

Lawrence Tune bought a dozen or so unfinished cars and sold them with tuned engines I believe. But I seem to remember one was produced for Chris Lawrences dad with a shortened body/chassis. Can anyone shed some light on this ?

yep, it was last seen being driven by a Unicorn with a Dodo sat in the passengers seat....

Seriously tho, I did have some contact a couple of years ago about it and one day it may well reappear (fingers firmly crossed)

The mythical Peewick appears in The Amazing Sports Car Journal by Jasper Wilkins. A book almost as rare as the Peewick. Sadly, the accompanying photo is not of the Peewick but a standard car. However, the text is fairly interesting.

Very interesting stuff.

So according to Nigel's reply, this car still exists?

Hard to say, but if it's shortened by 4" around the filler cap location i'm sure you'd notice?

These are the 2 pictures that appear in 'The Amazing Sports Car Journal' as the Peewick. Looking at the pictures in the book, I find it hard to believe that the car has been shortened by 4".

I've seen a picture of a shortened Peerless somewhere, but this isn't it.

This size of the rear window looks standard and it has lovely centre lock wheels (and no door handles?)

This is another case to be extremely suspicious of a registration number.

The Peewick and the shortened wheelbase is also mentioned in "A to Z of Sports Cars 1945-1990 by Mike Lawrence.

Picture is of the second Peerless prototype if i'm correct.

Looking at the car again the plates must have been put on another car. This cant be the peewick because Chris Lawrence bought the last few Warwicks and its clearly a Peerless in the photo. Was the Peewick damaged beyond repair?

nono Im wrong it does sound as though the Peewick was built with a Peerless body.
