Wow! That's been hacked about a bit. Pity I've just left the workshop before seeing this as I could have taken a picture of mine. You're correct, Erik. The grp should continue where you've drawn the red lines. I'm sure someone will be along with a pic but if they don't I'll do one for you next week.
The cover can be a bit awkward to get over both the handbrake and the gearstick. Atm, it's easy for me as I can just take out the gearstick.
ok, so this is Phase 1 and has been heavily modified (to make it fit!) there was lots of cut out etc. I just made it fit how I wanted it to fit and worked hard to get it gas tight, which it is.
I'm running steel floors so its easy to fit on the floor surface as that's flat and I can use rivnuts etc.
I mastic it down and then slide a blade under it to get it off (which I have done more times than D Trupp has tweeted!)
front face rivnuted to firewall.
Handbrake aperture was GRP'd as close as I could get it and still get it on and off the car (gear stick has to be in a certain position to aid this)
The white frame is Foamex (plastic sheet material) The black is rubber from an old inner tube super glued together, cable tie to the top around the handbrake lever.
Ford Fiesta rubber gear stick gaiter form what I can remember also screwed and clamped down with a frame.
Speedo cable has a large grommet from the boot floor of said Fiesta too!
and don't judge me on the mock up for the re positioning of the overdrive solenoid!
