I believe that the speedo cable is standard TR, (but I have not had to replace it).
However on my car an angle drive is essential in order to fit. It still touches the handbrake lever when the brake is on, but doesn't have to pass into the footwell
Thanks Dave. An angled speedo drive, it is, then. On another point, I've noticed that the TR speedo cables come in 2 lengths, 62" and 83". Any idea what yours might be?
When I built mine right angle drives were, for some reason very expensive and so I just ran mine straight out of the box, across the floor and through the A/side panel of the chassis, up the void in the wing and into the back of the dash.
This created a very smooth curve for the drive. The only bit you can see, if you're looking hard enough is a little bit of cable showing as it comes out the tunnel carpet and under the floor carpet.
I used a rather large grommet around this area too to get a seal, think it was out of the floor of a Fiesta at the time you can see it in the image below, its since slit so I've filled it with mastic and hope to find a replacement .
This brings me to the tunnel in general, take your time to make every hole good enough to fit a grommet in or in the case of the handbrake, make a gaiter to get a good seal. time spent here can reduce fumes /hot fumes/smelly fumes/really hot fumes/ super heated fumes and of course fumes.....
I made this out of an old inner tube and super glue, ooooah god do I love my super glue (and accelerator) for wood/plastics and rubber....and sealing the odd cut finger on more than one occasion
i cant remember the sizes but you can achieve a simple measurement by running a piece of flexible wire or even an extension lead from point A to point B?
there's 21"s difference between the two so I'm sure you can work out which one would suite??
