Peerless GT wanted US (still)

Hello all,

just wanted to refresh everyones memory. I'm still looking for a Peerless project as none have come up ( that I know of ) since Bob's went to BHCC, so if anybody has one or knows of one I'm interested. I don't mind a significant project, actually I would prefer one, so long as the price reflects the condition. Thanks again

Wayland,

There is a 59 Peerless for sale on Ebay right now. Located in the midwest.

Thanks Nathan,
Yeah I saw that car and have an inquiry in to seller but have not heard back as yet. There are some things obviously wrong and some other things missing but nothing too significant, so long as the price doesn't get out of control. Thanks again

A quick update, minutes after posting my last response I was able to chat with the gentleman selling the car. There are some bits missing (hood hinges, interior door pulls, etc... ) and he does not know if it is the original motor or not, all in all nothing significant or that bothers me too much so I will be watching the auction closely. Thanks again

Is it possible to put up the link to the auction?

I can't find it, maybe already sold?

Thanks

Thanks Dave,

Somehow if I search Ebay.com this just does not turn up.

It's red isn't it?

BTW, i'm not in the race for another Peerlessbiggrin

Hey Erik,
Yes it's the red one, there are several small issues with it like incorrect headlights and rings, no windshield wipers, those funky side marker lights on the front fenders as well as the other missing bits I mentioned before, but that said it looks to be a decent car (I couldn't get him to send me any pics of the chassis however ).Also I'm personally not a big fan of the wheel selection on the car, or the side view mirror.

I have a question for you guys that know them a little better though, any idea what that black plug(?) centered below the rear windscreen is or was? Thanks again

It looks like a rubber bumper for the trunk lid to rest on.

Wheel choice, these must be hub caps as there's five wheel nuts.

Normally it's four.

Indeed looks to be a decent car with some work to do.

Wondering how much it will sell for if it will reach it's reserve price?

Thanks Nathan.
Erik, yeah I noticed that as well but even blown up considerably on my computer screen they actually appear to be wheels, but I hope they are indeed caps.

I note that the ebay ad states that 'the wheels have been upgraded'. Not to the better, IMHO. Could be a nice looking car if some of the excessive additions were removed.

Hi Mike,
that was my thoughts exactly, and there is quite a bit of weird additions and minor missing items to change. I hope with all of those little things addressed and either removing the bumpers, or at least painting them properly, that it would be a decent Peerless when done. I'm a little concerned about the condition of the chassis being in the upper midwestern US and that it is rapidly approaching a price which doesn't make sense to exceed without a proper PPI but I'm still in as of right now (although reserve has not been met at this point).
If anyone here on the forum is familiar with this particular car and could weigh in, it may lessen concerns and would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, best of luck in becoming the 'new distinguished owner'.

Do all Peerless owners become distinguished I wonder?

What do you think, Nige??

extinguished more like.

I suspect that the rubber bung on the rear panel may have been a rear wiper as the boot lid (sorry, Trunk) will not fold over far enough to touch with those phase 1 integral hinges.

I also suspect that the wheel trims are 2000cc/25000cc Triumph parts bin items....something in the back of my mine (a scary place to hang out and no mistake!) keeps telling me that TR5/250 are not the same as Triumph 2000/2500pi etc.

IF they are TR5/250 trims they might double the price of the car! And i agree Brewco, without extensive chassis photos I wouldn't entertain buying

also, is it me or the commission plate fitted to the inner flitch....upside down?

There was a car on tinternet very similar in appearance (wheels/bumpers/colour etc) and had spats fitted over the rear wheel arches and all I had was it was in Canada?

IF anyone can let me know the commission number I would appreciate it.

Mike, I guess I'll have to wait a while longer to become distinguished.

Hey Nigel, I found an older link to Bring a Trailer featuring this car and they have it listed as chassis number 198. Also the common consensus then was that the wheel (covers) were either TR5/250 or first year Stag, not sure which is correct or even what the difference is between the two. Also found an article on Barn finds as well from around the same time period (2011 ) which shows the interior pre-dye job. If you look closely at the pic of the rear seat you can see cracking along the top and you can really tell that it has been dyed ( not very well from the looks of it) Unfortunately the more I look at it the more Mickey Mouse repair/restoration work I see so it doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that the chassis is in fact good or if repaired that it was done correctly.
I think I will pass on this one for a multitude of reasons so the hunt is still ongoing. If you guys hear of another for sale (particularly a decent project) please keep me in mind. Thanks to all

In a couple of months we will be selling 2 1960 Peerless GT LHD "projects". Both cars are in very neglected condition and partially  disassembled. Both have been sitting inside for 30+ years. The next 60 days or so will be spent by us organizing the 2 cars to be able to accurately describe them in words and pictures to potential buyers.  They will probably go up on ebay or Bring a Trailer when the cleaning and organization is done. I will put updates here as work begins . The cars are very dirty/ dusty with parts strewn everywhere in 2 packed garages right now.Impossible to even get pictures now.   Dave

Sorry to intrude on your post but if you could let me know if Dave lists these two cars. I would like an opportunity on whichever one you pass on. They sound exactly what I'm looking for since my budget won't allow for much more.
My email is bigtoe32067@yahoo.com
Thanks and good luck
