Okay, lets have "another head count" on these phase 1 headlamp rims.

Last time I got a price on manufacture of these I really needed 10 pairs (that's 20 rims) to start the ball rolling. I can get 66no blanks cut from brass. These I have to pay up front in one go.

Then from this "stock" I can get batches spun, worked on a tool, polished, plated, polished, chromed.

I'm sure I had someone come up to me and ask for a pair but I'm buggered if I can remember who, please email me AND add your name here.

This also raises the question of fixing holes. I have two fixing points on my rims and they are still on the car after 20 years road use. Standard they had one ( as far as I can tell) and most of them didn't make it out of Slough (like a lot of people too!)

Basing the figures on people here and on these threads:

http://peerless-gt.activeboard.com/t12038304/ph1-headlamp-rims/

http://peerless-gt.activeboard.com/t61023613/headlamp-rims-phase-1/

Names so far:

1 set. Eric B

2 sets. Dan W

1 set. Kieth W

1 set. Marcus/Steve

1 set. David E

1 set. Hanspeter K

1 set. for me!

So that's 16 rims by my reckoning, PLEASE jump in and lets get this moving, again.

are the following still interested?

Greg T, Steve J and Mike RF

These are metal rims with chrome? Not plastic resin as some are doing??

Depending on cost, I would be good with two (2) sets in lieu of the one (1) set you have me down for right now.

Hi Nigel,

What would be the price for a set if you have enough demand?

Might be tempted to buy a spare set.

Thanks,

Erik

OK kids, looking at the quantities we have and talking to all concerned we're looking at a finished cost of £160 per pair. I think that is a very reasonable price for solid brass and chrome.

If you were to see a pair of them hanging up at Beaulieu auto jumble would you expect them to be less??

How many takers do I have now?

HOT NEWS!

looking at all the processes I have to organise getting these headlamp rims into production we're looking at 10 week turn around.

How does that suit?

Hey, don't leave me out!  Please put me on the list for 3 rims, that way I'll have a spare just in case.

I've had mine 3-D printed in metal last year! The material is like stainless steel and easy to polish to a chrome-like shine or no problem to have chrome plated if wanted.

As I've only had two pairs made, the costs were high but the programme still exists and if we get a decent amount of orders together, I can have them made within a very short time!

Who would be wanting a pair then?

They look very good Markus.

I advise anyone wanting to fit new rims to their car to ensure they will fit after the car's front end has been repaired and/or repainted.

I thought so too Markus. A very nice job. I'm very tempted but have committed to getting a pair from Nigel.

Speaking of which...........

How are they coming along, Nigel? Is the aforementioned 10 week delivery still on schedule??

Hi Mike and all the other stalwarts who support what I am trying to do here.......

I have talked to the guys producing the "spun" part of the project and they have told me they have rejected the first tooling set that was produced as it was not up to their standard ( I believe this is produced "out of house") and

the new tool should be in next week. I have asked them to let me know when so I can go and inspect it (and understand/discuss the differences) and I'm pushing hard for a prototype/sample.

Thanks for your patience on this project and your understanding that this is not my day job...I try to do this after my day job...and my day job seems to take up every day......which seems to get later and later in the evenings too!
