Sad News my friends

It is sad news I'm afraid.

Peter Clayton passed away suddenly on the evening of 14th January. He was walking home from work (still doing 3 days a week) and had a heart attack.

Peter has been a Peerless owner for about 55 years so he had seen it all before and so was very helpful to me when I started restoring mind 30+ years ago. I could ring him up

and ask him the most stupid of questions and he would always come up with the answer (as did Ken & Alan) as you have to understand there was only really these three guys in the country

that knew what I was talking about!

Peter also allowed me & Alan to carry his original Phase 1 headlamp rims off to be copied in the 1990's as he knew they were correct as they were fitted to his very original car when he bought it in about 1961.

Over the years he's bought more cars (and caravans) and to my knowledge has been restoring at least 7 cars (4 different makes) all at the same time mixed in with house renovations/repairs/kids/grand kids and quire practice!

he was a quiet man at larger meetings, more comfortable with smaller groups and a stalwart at our New Year Bash.

Our thoughts are with Pat and his family.

When I know more info I will post (with Pat's permission) and let you know.

If we send flowers/donations as a club I will let you know asap.

Goodbye my friend, I will see you sometime

The passing of a good friend and colleague is always difficult. We send our condolences to both you, Nigel, and Peter's family...

I never knew or spoke to the gentleman but it's always sad to hear of the passing of a like minded member of a diminishing group.
