Phase I brake pipe sets

I read with interest Gary's latest installment of his Peerless restoration in the February (?) edition of Practical Classics and noticed that he had used a set of Automec TR3 pipes.

I'm not sure if other owners are aware but Automec actually do a full set of pipes specifically for the Peerless. They're not listed on the Automec website and you have to phone up to remind them that they actually do them.

The part number is GB5645.

Hopefully this will be of assistance to other owners.

Hello Mike,

at the time I spoke with Automec, I suggested the TR3 set should be similar to the Peerless. I can't recall if the set was modified or if it has just been given a new part number. I suggest checking with them first because I reused the longest front to rear pipe on my car. That said, I don't know if I have followed the factory routing for the pipes. Proceed with caution or expect modifications. That said, Automec are very helpful and will do what they can to ensure the kit fits.

All the best,

Hi Gary

Having received a set for Christmas, I hope they're not too far off the mark. When I spoke to Automec myself, it transpired that Peerless Phase I (as they refer to it) has been listed for some time. I'm uncertain if this is a longstanding situation or as a result of your efforts. Automec have a well hidden webpage with just about every make of classic car here and it was from this that I originally found our cars. (sorry, don't know how to do the link thing).

I'm still a bit off fitting the new pipes but will report on their suitability in due course.
