That appears to be same car that has been been for sale at Hyman Ltd. in Saint Louis forever for almost $50,000.  I think was was also at action some time ago and didn't sell.

I have tried several ways to get in and look at more photos with no luck. There is no online catalog.

It looks like their web site was confused.  This is a better link directly to the Peerless.

https://russoandsteele.com/vehicle-details/?show_vehicle=113572&current_index=47&total_results=91&auction_pk=151&=&caryear=&search_text=&page=featured

VIN is called out as GT200172

I am thinking about heading down there to check it out.

'Ground up' resto didn't extend to fitting the correct rear lights, I see.

and surely the front badge could have been mounted centrally... And no boot latch or license plate light?

I'm pretty sure it is the one that was for sale at Hyman's - those rear lights look familiar to me too

It was a no sale with a high bid of $31,000.

I did get to drive it for a short distance as they were staging the cars, but not at speed.  Met up with an interested buyer after the car crossed the block.  Hopefully it will sell and stay local to SoCal.  He seemed interested in addressing the non-original item.

It is hard to tell what the right value is for the car, but I agree with the seller that it was not high enough.  It is a very solid car.  Doors didn't wiggle and it drove nicely.

The Peerless did get some active bidding, but this was hardly the right venue to sell a limited production European GT coupe, nor do I know if any of the bidders understood what was "correct" and what needed correction, and frankly at this auction it probably didn't matter.  Hot rods and 911s attracted attention.

A better venue is Monterey in August, but the little items on the car would have to be put right to satisfy those pickier but well funded buyers.  Maybe the potential buyers here were trying to leave room in their budget to make corrections and flip the car.  That seems to be the trend these days...  No real owners, no real enthusiasts, just investors and collectors that talk about the value of their assets - boring.
