Prototype pictures

I found this link today with pictures of the Peerless prototype:

https://revslib.stanford.edu/catalog.html?f%5Bmarque_ssim%5D%5B%5D=Peerless

Enjoy!

An interesting find. Well done Marcus.

I'm not 100% convinced that they are prototypes, though. The car on the second page looks to be pretty much standard whilst the one on the first page has unusual tail lights but not too much else different (at least as a as I can see).

A very handy set of reference pictures, though.

Mike!

You are right about some of the pictures not being of the prototype. I should have specified that. It's two different cars. The pictures of the production car have been published in a road test article from the time, as far as I know. I'm almost sure I do recognise them. I will check my private archive. Most of the pictures on the first page are of the prototype though. The body was made in aluminium (aluminum for you on the other side of the pond) and you can se the rivets around the boot opening if you look closely. There are a lot of differences if you take some time to compare. Larger rear wheel arcs, different bumpers (the front one in one piece), different rear glass, different fuel filler cap, recesses behind the door handles, different handles, sharper door corners, smaller doors etc. Even the grille insert gives it away. It has a "W" instead of a "P". Both prototypes where called "Warwick".

Regards,

Marcus

Spot on Marcus. My failing eyesight lets me down again

Now that I've had a closer look, the differences appear obvious. How did you find them, btw? My previous searches never brought up anything as good as these.

I got a tip from the Austin Healey Sprite Community about Le Mans pictures in the Stanford archive (I also have a frogeye/bugeye). I made a search on Le Mans 1958 and eventually found the Peerless picture from the race. I then tried to search for Peerless and the rest of the pictures popped up, to my surprise.

Hi

A great set of pictures. The ali. bodied appeared in an article in autocar or motor (I cant remember which now) in about 1957/58. The article was about the launch of the car. It says it would be Ali. bodied, fibreglass was decided in as a cost saving. The Greyhound pub in the pics I think is at Colnbrook just outside slough.

From the site with the Pics I put in Warwick the search and heypresto a set of Warwick GT And GT350. I woud love to know who the man is showing the V sign to the camara is.

aaaar my little community of sleuths, yes that is the second prototype car and yes again the other is mine, 8583 BP. these photos are the ones not used in the Autosport road test, March 59.

And I was very pleased to find them earlier in the year....I thought I had flagged this site up ( I Have to my fellow registrar's etc) as it has an amazing amount of stuff but like so much

on these kind of sites its scanned/uploaded by people that are not that well adverse with the subject matter so they don't always name the file by the image withincry

And to finish off, the gentleman in the photos raising his fingers to the camera is........ John Bolster!

Perhaps one of you knows what car show this is.
It was then a Peerless.

 Possibly another show.

The background is a different and the signage is not the same.

Wouldn't it be fun to have a bunch of car show pictures?

Not just for Peerless.

Last week I received this picture from the registrar of the Triumph Club Holland.

Same stand as first picture, but from above.

Unfortunately, I have nothing to share yet. Nevertheless, I will let you know once I find something worthy.
