Thought it best to start a new thread under a more positive heading.
I now have the first of the newly manufactured rear windscreens. It only awaits trial fitting to satisfy the manufacturer it is fit for purpose and they will be ready to begin making them.
It should fit as it's made on the same tooling as the new glass fitted to my car already. It's leading quality glass, complying with E11 43R regs.
Front screens are also available and these have no fitting issues to iron out.
Both will be offered as heated or non-heated and both will be laminated. Top tints are also available.
Full pricing details to follow ASAP. All screens can be shipped worldwide. The manufacturer delivers large consignments of automotive glass to North America regularly, so no problems there, especially.
If you haven't already, please let myself or preferably Nigel C know that you want a new screens(s).
as soon as we get final production costs from the suppliers and put this proposal forward for funding we post the all the details here in this new thread.
we will also try to obtain shipping costs (be they estimates) for the USA, Australia and Europe so you can get some idea what the outlay will be.
kep it coming guys, we need a good order level to persuade the cost down. the TR Register New Spares Fund are looking to help us with the initial outlay.
I am headed over to the Uk in April. Any chance I'll be able to take back any glass???? I could use two front screens, a rear and both phase 1 door pieces.
It's getting time to test fit the front glass into the previously smashed up body.
Soooo, I really thought that I had posted this when I submitted the list to the TR Ation magazine but hey, its my age!
And to the windscreen project. I put a list of people together for an order of screens. this list was based on owners that had got in touch by email, leaving a note on the forum and calling me on the phone.
That was great until my computer died in December last year and I have lost ALL my emails/contacts/quotes etc, but I did make one of those really old things.....a paper list!
unfortunately it only gives me names and amounts but it's a start.
What we need now is a definitive list to give the supplier. I have set out below all the names/quantities that I have listed and I need you to confirm, by a personnel email/phone call/snail mail to me, your commitment.
Re-cap on costs:
Front screen standard £155.00. Heated £265.00. Sunshade to top £10 extra
Rear screen standard £153.00. Heated £255.00
All these costs are plus VAT and delivery. I am told they can deliver in the UK for £25.00.
H: is for heated. T: is for tinted. G: is green. B: is blue. ?:not specified colour

So, is that it? Please can all the owners listed above email me to confirm on the gt2 email address as without this personnel commitment mail I am very reluctant to place your order.
OK Guys and Galls. the copy below has just been published in the TR Action Magazine and so I thought I'd put it on here as well for all those non-TR members around the world.
Windscreens.
Finally folks I have got this all in place! Please see below the email I received from our contact at Pilkington's and the details to order your screens.
Hello Nigel, Good to hear from you, It Looks like youve generated a lot of interest!
Your suggestions are fine, we can work that way.
Please ask your members to e-mail us on the classics e-mails address and put Peerless in the subject box. One of the team (probably Mike) will pick up all the correspondence and
deal with them directly. For those who dont have access to e-mail please call Mike on 01527 505 249
On the shade band versions can you please ask them to stipulate what colour tint they want?
So there you go, just give them a call or email and remember to make sure you mention Peerless in all correspondence. I have asked them to let me know the final uptake on this project so
I can report back and once again thanks to Gary from Classics Monthly for getting this off the ground.
This is wonderful news. Sent an email off to Pinkerton. Since my Peerless has had so many body repairs, I am anxious to fit the new glass before committing to paint. In my correspondence, I offered to receive glass orders for fellow Southern California owners if that saves us on shipping costs. I'll let you know when I hear back.
I am getting ready to send payment to Pilkington. As I suspected the shipping costs are significant all the way to California. Now would be the time to let me know if you would like to join my order for glass. I also contacted The Roadster Factory to see if they wanted to inventory some glass for us Stateside, but I have not been able to raise any interest. They are taking 10 front Italia screens, so there is still hope that they would be interested in adding a few Peerless/Warwick screens to the order. I'll keep trying.
I am not looking to make any money. The cost would be the glass price, plus some fair allocation of the overall shipping costs.
I spoke to Richard (Pilkington Glass) at the Classic Motor Show, NEC, Birmingham and he informs me that he has only taken two orders for glass so far...and one of those was mine!
How did you think that made me feel? Embarrassed doesn't cover it my friends...
Do you realise how much time and effort both Gary and I have put into this project for you, the members?
Do you realise that neither of us are making anything out of this project? (I'm having to buy a front screen due to my new spare screen getting damaged whilst being used/moved to get this project underway)
Do you realise That we gave our time/transport etc for free (as I do, mostly on my own, at my personnel cost to run this group) to good of all?
Come on people, please take a little of your time to place your order so we can get this batch together and enable me to keep my word.
Looks like three of us (Art, Greg and myself) are going to go ahead and consolidate our order. Greg and I are working the final details with Albert from The Roadster Factory who has graciously agreed to assist us by leveraging one one of their overseas containers. We don't know the final shipping costs, but we are moving ahead assuming it will be less then individual shipments.
I thought about taking delivery of additional glass for TBD owners, but I it won't be practical for me to warehouse the materials. It doesn't look like any of our local suppliers are willing to do the same, so this may be your only change to join in and save a bit on shipping.
The plan thus far is to provide Pilkington with a single order so The Roadster Factory only has to deal with a single invoice/shipper. That was their request.
I'll go ahead and collect your money and act as the "banker". Plan for a two step process. One payment for the glass and a following payment for the shipping $ TBD. I am hoping that The Roadster Factory will be able to provide individual shipping invoices to your final destinations, so I'll be out of the loop once the glass payment is made.
I understand there is some uncertainty about the final cost and shipping liability, but if you are interested in joining us on this one time consolidation, please reach out to me on this forum NLT December 1st. After December 1st, the order goes in!
Thanks,
Dean
Note for me: Art wants a single heated rear glass if the heating wires are fine and inside the glass layers.
Yes folks its nearly the end of year and the final order will be closing in early January so please get your requirements over to Mike at Pilkington's.
ALSO URGENT HELP NEEDED
There are people who need side glass and Pilkington's are happy to supply this (although they admit its not produced in-house and so cannot do us a great deal on the price) but they need templates to work from.
I have chased a few members and so far but unfortunately I have only got a paper template for the door quarter light glass on a Phase 2 & Warwick.
If anyone out there has glass that:
A. they can draw round on paper
B. They know which side its from
C. can check that both sides are the same (I have a distinct feeling they're different)
D.And is willing to take the time to help us all!
Please get back to me so I can let Mike know it's in hand.
For front & rear screens please call Mike on 01527 505 249
My front and rear glass and my friend David's front screen arrived yesterday in a large wooden crate. I just want to thank everyone who has been involved in making this possible! Many many thank's!!!
