Chassis number GT2 00063

Hi, My name is Jeff (new member) and I have recently purchased this peerless that has been stored in a barn in Yorkshire for over twenty years, original reg no was, KCP 287, then I believe it became, 541 FOX, currently. REF 609. The car looks to be in original condition, even down to the paintwork and engine, (needs lots of work) would any members have any info about the car or pictures of the car when it was in its prime?. Thank you, Jeff.

Let me be the first to welcome you Jeff. It isn't usually so quite round here so I'll do the honours. I'm guessing your car is the one that was on ebay recently. I think some (including myself) were rather surprised to see what it went for. Nice to see Peerless prices starting to rise. Not sure if they'll ever approach the levels we see on the other side of the pond.

Sorry I can't help with info on the car but I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can.

In the meantime, welcome to the fold.

Mike

Thanks for the reply Mike, yes it is the one from ebay but I didn't pay that price. I realise I have so much to learn about the car, for example the various models used to source parts from, do you know if such a list exists? Are windscreens difficult to obtain as the current one is opaque. I spoke to Nigel about the car and he was very helpful indeed, he advised how to remove the rear window without damaging it but as soon as I had put the phone down a hundred more questions came to mind, I would be very grateful for ANY advice.

Thanks for the welcome.

Jeff.

I'm guessing that you've looked at the 'Wotsitoff' page on here? Some of the more unusual parts and alternatives are on there.

Re glass, Gary Stretton of 'Classics Monthly' fame and a member here had, some time ago, negotiated the re-manufacture of front and rear screens, both with heating elements if required. Sadly, the manufacturer went belly up but, IIRC, the molds were rescued and discussions with new manufacturers started. I'm sure a PM to Gary would bring an update.

Mike
