Apologies for the blatant product plug but I thought members maybe interested in these remanufactured door handles

a door lock mechanism.

Included:
Each handle comes complete with "D" shaped handle bracket and a door knob.

Not Included : Internal Fixings and Fittings are not included
Door lock and key not included

So are these the same as the ones Nigel mentioned a while back.

And who knows where to get a barrel that fits?

The history of these handles is that a few years ago an enthusiastic classic car owner managed to track down the original moulds and decided to get some handles made.

He spent the best part of a year trying to drum up a volume order through clubs and there was a lot of publicity, but to no avail. In the end his club went ahead with a modest order in partnership with another club lucky enough to benefit from an interest free loan from a member.

The first batch of handles was not quite right and was rejected. For some time it was possible to buy not quite right handles off ebay. The mould was rejigged and the two clubs sold a lot of handles to their members at excellent prices.

Unfortunately, there has been some eyewatering increases in the cost of raw materials and the demand from club members has slowed. Both clubs are now out of stock and one of the clubs has decided not to place another order and is referring members to me. I have a small stock of handles and I am hoping that by offering these on the open market rather than through a club I can keep these items in stock and available for many years to come.

If yours have worn, second hand barrels are widely available. I can usually help if required.

we do have our own thread on the forum for door handles and I have been compiling a list of members that wish to place an order with the club via phone calls, emails and the forum.

http://peerless-gt.activeboard.com/t53174557/door-handles/

I freely admit that we are here to help our members get the best price for parts for their cars and perhaps £3 more in some cases is a good saving.

however, as the registrar for this club I would have thought it a courtesy to contact me first before setting up "a stall" to sell goods. As a courtesy to our members I have refrained from removing this thread when it appeared.

if any members wish to order form this supplier then please feel free to do so and let me know so we don't double order.

furthermore, I doubt that there would be any help with our costs to run this "free-to-all-to-use" website and forum from this supplier.

Do you have any idea when your sets might be available, Nigel?

I, for one, am more than happy to order from yourself particularly if it's of benefit to the club.

I'm not in a rush but equally don't want to let the opportunity to purchase an item that I thought was unavailable pass by if, for whatever reason, your project fails to come to fruition.

I'm just thinking of the great efforts Gary made re the screens only to see it collapse when the manufacturer went belly up.

Nigel

Please accept my apologies for any offense inadvertently caused. I did a search on doorhandles before posting but I must have missed your thread.

Having been a club spares officer for many years I can completely appreciate how frustrating this must be for you. I acted with the best of intentions and genuinely thought that your members would be interested in these parts.

If you would like me to remove this thread I would be happy to comply.

Please let me know if the Peerless and Warwick cars have any other parts in common with the 1950's Standard 8 and 10's. Perhaps we could co-operate in a joint venture? My email address is 8and10spares@standard8n10spares.co.uk if you'd like to take this offline.

kind regards

Hi Nigel

Can I ask (again) if there is any progress on availability of door handles through the club (they are, after all, listed on the spares page as being available). I notice in another recent thread that Garry S appears to have bought a pair from the Standard 8-10 spares vendor that started this thread. I put off buying a set from him with the intention of supporting your efforts and would still like to do so if they are either available now or at sometime in the near future.

More worryingly, I now see that Standard 8-10 spares is out of stock of the locking handles and I'm now rather wishing I'd bought a set when they were first mentioned on here.

I don't want this to sound like a moan but if you could let me know if the project is dead in the water, I can express an interest in getting a set from Standard 8-10 spares if and when he gets new stock in.

Thanks

Mike

Mike, I bought my handles from 8 and 10 Spares due to strict magazine deadlines each month.

As I've been featuring the construction of alloy inner door frames, sorting the handles became increasingly urgent.

All the best,

Gary

Hi All,

Okay, this is the state of play.

repeated attempts to contact the gentleman who offered this service to me has fallen off the face of the earth! He does not return any contact so I can only presume that he has no stock/does not wish to supply/run off with the foundry managers wife!

Therefore, I have contacted Tony at 8 and 10 spares. If you remember he started this separate thread offering the same items.

he has said that he is more than happy to supply these items to the Peerless & Warwick Owners register and there will be no extra charges.

his link is:

Although at this point it time he is out of stock! hopefully your added interest will enable another batch to be produced. sorry that some of you may have felt let down.

Hi Nigel

Thanks for letting me/us know. It's a real pity you've been let down by forces outside your control however your efforts are appreciated.

I'll contact Tony at 8 & 10 spares and express an interest.

Mike

My new handles arrived today. Very pleased with the quality if you're reading this Tony and highly recommended if you're a Peerless owner.
