Just purchased a peerless for ground up restoration. Have been looking at various front end pictures. My car has fiberglass extending beyond the light itself. Others #1 cars look like they have a bezel. On the body where the fiberglass extends beyond the light is there a trim ring of some kind inside or does one just look at the screws holding the headlight frame?
there should be a chrome bezel that mounts in front of the headlamp. Many cars seem to mislay them and there are plenty of pictures about of cars that don't have anything around the headlamp but the fibreglass. The P&WOR had a batch made up in conjunction with the TR Register a few years ago but they are long sold out (I will need a pair in due course and foolishly didn't buy them when available). They are by all accounts very fiddly to produce and were £80 + VAT per pair when they were available. Nigel was going to have another batch made up some time ago...but the price had increased prohibitively. I keep my fingers crossed that he'll succeed in getting another batch at a bearable price in due course.
You'll find plenty of pictures on the internet of Phase 1 cars with and without their bezels as well as a few with modified arrangements in place. The Phase 2 cars (and the Warwicks) had their headlights set back in the bodywork and used standard bezels.
Picture below is from the "spares" page of the old website and is of one of the batch of re-manufactured bezels.
