Peerless/warwick Employees

I worked for Peerless from day one at Slough, in both places, and subsequently for Bernard Rodger Developments building the Warwick at Horton, installing all of the electrics. The first wiring harnesses were made on the chassis and transferred to a large "bagatelle board", made from two sheets of hardboard and lots of panel pins. We made several harnesses this way for the early cars before perfecting the design and passing a couple of models to Joseph Lucas for manufacture. I even went to Ireland and did some work on the Buick V8 prototype which was supposed to be for the U.S. market. The latest write up in the history section is great and I had a terrific surpise on my 70th (yes 70th) birthday last week here in Vancouver when my son presented me with a tee shirt emblazoned with the Peerless logo. Are there any other ex- Peerless or Warwick people out there. Unfortunately I have forgotten most of the names. Hope to see some of you at Lemans 2008.

Dear Mr Austin,

Thankyou very much indeed for your entry on the forum. Please could I ask you to contact me directly either by e-mail (jon@peerless-gt.co.uk) or letter (41 Mortimer Gardens, Tadley  Hampshire, England RG26 3UP). As Registrar (and Historian by default) I would of course be very interested to hear your full story and take copies of any pictures or documents you may have.

Once again many thanks and please do get in touch.

Jon Nolan

Aaah ha so it was you that did the wiring on my car was it...I've got a list of faults that I want you to sort out.

No seriously thanks for getting in touch and please talk to our beloved leader, we would love to know more. Do you know there is a small amount of film footage of the factory? Jon will swap for information (I told you Jon all that undercover work for the military would come in handy, what was your regiment again...oh yea Gestapo, that's it)

We all hope to meet you soon.

Great to read both the quotes fom an ex employess and son of. Can I ask when did Bernie die (so I can add o my own history file of my warwick). What was the actual address of the warwick factory in Horton so i can have a look to see if it is still there or what is ther now. I read that there were two sites for the Peerless factory. Do you know the actual address for both. I think  one was on the corner of the Farnham Road and Buckingham Road. if this can be confirmed. as this site, which was last an Office World store is empty at present. possible to be redeveloped as per the rest of the area. I could go and take some photos to keep for history.

regards Duncan

Duncan,

I will ask my father, I am pretty sure I was about ten when Bernie died and last week I achieved the big 50, (no comment Cluley). I also know Bernies son Tony, he races or raced historic motorcycles , very good at it too. There is also the Peerless Showroom, it is about to be knocked down, I actually have a picture of it with my chassis outside it, it was taken last week on a 'phone.
