Speedo Cable on Overdrive

I noticed after my first shake-down run that the speedo cable is hanging loose next to the overdrive.  Attached to the end is an angled adapter, plus what appears to be the sealing sleeve from around the speedo drive pinion (brass with a rubber seal)

I assume from this that the pinion is either still in the O/d or has fallen out already, and it's likely that this is the source of the leak.  I'm not 100% as I haven't been able to get to see directly yet.

So my questions - What size pinion do I need to replae teh lost/damaged one that I have/had?   I have seem 15, 20 and 21 teeth quoted and various colour coding.    Secondly, is it easy to replace?

thanks

dave

Just to close the loop, a new adapter and washer appears to have fixed the problem, so now I have a working speedo. The old adapter was missing the gearbox side cable Dave

Yes - it's hilarious really. In the same way that the steering is more a request than a command, the speedo is more an indicator of stopped/slow/fast than actual speed Dave
