sorted the link and yes I guess they have realised that they maybe asking to much money for them and there not selling....I will watch with interest and probably have to eat my hat at the NYB
I think that the first and third in the list are the same car (Scottsdale and St Louis). Hyman Ltd in St Louis had a fully restored red/tan 1959 for sale for a long time at $48k, and this is no longer listed on their site. It was there in November for sure.
I suspect that they have given the car out to auction and is the car going up in Scottsdale. It certainly looks the same, though the many pictures that Hyman had are nowhere to be found so I can't be sure.
The second is #166 that is for sale right by me. The price is pretty firm at $42.5, as the seller has put in a lot of investment and while the car is not restored, it's very original and has a beautiful patina.
the pics for chassis 166 are wonderful to look through. I spent a good while yesterday studying them. I especially like the James Whitson plaque. I've never seen one before.
The car is gorgeous and very original looking. Lots of lovely interior trim details for anyone (like me) putting a Phase 1 car back together.
that set of photos of 166 are indeed very fine! I noticed the coachbuilder's plaque too. Quite different to the one that I was given when I acquired my car (chassis #94) though:
Did you notice that delightful little detail on the pictures of chassis #18 recently for stowing the bonnet key?
I'd not seen that before and the carpets I was supplied as patterns are missing that piece. The same detail appears in a more upright position on chassis #198:
I saw this car in person at the Chicago British Festival in September. It is a very nice car and runs very well. The owner was kind enough to open things up and let me look at them. My own car, #155, is all apart and in terrible condition. I'm saving up to order a new frame this winter and get started on the work next summer (unless somebody makes me an an offer I can't refuse). 155 is left hand drive and has lived in the Chicago area its whole life. It was driven in the salt for ten winters and then left to rot in a field for 30 years. It has been inside and dry for the last 13 years. I'm missing some parts and I'll post a list in the near future. - Ray
