Peerless in need of restoration on eBay, listing commencing 2nd July 2010.

I am listing my late father's 1958 Peerless on eBay on 2nd July (commencing at 9.15 PM). The car is in need of complete restoration (no front & rear screens). I am including various parts off a second car including doors, boot, bonnet, instruments, seats etc.

Reg no. is NBW 789 (have the V5C(W) in his name), chassis no. 048. My father owned the car from around 1963 but its been off the road since around 1967 and in dry storage since. The car is situated in Newport, south Wales. Hoping it goes to a good home.

looks like a lot of work

I think it does have fins, they are just difficult to see in the pictures.

It would be a good project for someone.  Is the red interior original? I have not seen that before.

Yes,  I can confirm the fins are still on. The original seats in NBW 789 are grey, the red ones in the picture are from another Peerless by late father bought about 15 years ago, so may have been re-covered at some stage before he bought it. The red ones are in quite good condition, certainly better than the grey ones. The glass was all intact until about 5 years ago when some kids broke into the garage and broke all the windows! The doors from the other car are complete with glass. I understand that the front screen is quite easy to get hold of and the back screens may be available soon in acrylic or glass? Lots of interest already and so far I have 100 people on eBay watching it. Best regards, Laurence

The red seats are identical to the ones that were in our car (697 JMA) in the 60s so I would guess that it was an option if not standard

I guess that is one of the great things about our cars, they all left the factory a little different.

Now my car has changed colour I quite like the idea of a red interior.....

I have what would appear to be a factory red interior as well...  Maybe red was an available interior color?

Hi Dean

What colour was your body originally?

Here is another on US ebay.

I didn't know that a sunroof was a factory option, wouldn't it make the roof a little wobbly?

I was hoping to be able to figure out the body color and provide a nice clear answer.

It looks like it has been various shades of silver, although there is light blue paint under the hood.  To know for sure, I'll either have to find an unmolested area, or employ the CSI forensic team.

With regard to the red interior, it looks to be either a complete re-do or came that way from the factory. There is no evidence that any of the panels were resprayed.
