Some interesting finds...

Hello all, long time no speak!

Whilst reading through a few of my dad's old copies of Motorsport Magazine (every issue since about 1955!) I've come across a few bits and bobs which may be of some interest.

First of all, from April '68, a letter was sent in...

Secondly, this time in the October '67 issue, an advert for a Warwick which I think has a registration something along the lines of 719 ACJ:

And finally, another ad, this time for a Phase 2 car, registration seems to be 8** JPV?

sorry Mike been off line with PC problems but up and running again now!

thanks for these images. I will go through and see if he have any of these recorded, there's a couple that don't ring any bells to me.

The new website is still coming along and there will be a gallery page there so these will help fill it up!

Mr Parks doesn't ring a bell, Duncan might have something on him as he's researching race programs at the moment and he's already found some really interesting stuff. Some of this he's written up for the TR Mag reports but fear not

these reports will also appear on the new website which is coming along well (due to the builder of such things being under a foot of snow so cant go anywherebiggrinbiggrin)

Without a reg on the front I'm struggling.....shame the bonnet wasn't open I might have been able to read the commission plate. Looks to be a good quality photograph, where did that come from?

Also, why is there always a Mk2 careering around in most of these photos of the period!

That's because the Mk2 was a current car if the date is correct. Unlike the Peerless, sadly.

Plus, there was rather a lot of them. Unlike the Peerless, sadly (again).

Is the Peerless overtaking on the inside, or is the Mk2 flying past round the outside?

I think that is Maurice Gates rounding Woodcote corner at Silverstone in XYO464. North Staffs Motor Club probably organised the meeting.

and looking at dome of these images I know some and not seen other before!

211 YPP is restored and on the road.

WXR 400 I haven't seen

AHJ 876A looks to be at an auction, dont know the car but I am sure I know the two gents looking at it!

The three car club line up, can you tell me the year the mag was printed Mike?

The three club cars are from 1975 I think the photo appeared in classic cars promoting the club. The racing photo is from Ted Walker Ferret Fotographics bought at a classic car event. I have some more racing photos Ill dig them out.
This one features two slightly modified cars (lights) and Im pretty sure you published another picture of these cars in the club magazine a few years ago? Again its a Ted Walker photo, on the back it says 1960 AMOC Silverstone, J Rose Peerless. No mention of the other Peerless but could be traced with a racing programme I suppose.

Hi Mike,

I'll get Duncan on the case, he's better that a truffle sniffing dog!

Keep the images/ad's coming as you seem to be finding all sorts and I would like you to PM with stuff (IF you are happy to do so) as we would like to keep them in the archive as stuff just gets berried on FB, its low res you can't search easily for it.

Funny to see that guy running in the wrong direction at the start of the movie.

Watching the start and the Peerless nearly ended up in the barriers within seconds. Im sure both drivers knew what they were doing.

Yes, at least three of us have done so.....

I think that it's the only in-period colour image of the Peerless at Le Mans.

Indeed that could have easily ended in tears there. Looks like the Peerless driver slowed down a bit to avoid contact.

The Peerless is quite often shown in this short film.
