Hi Atle, well you are a busy guy and what a good looking body you have! As for the colours, I see you have marked up what you think are the layers but I'm not so sure.
Body. No dispute there!
Grey primer. Agreed.
BRG. I'm not so sure. In my experience this is either more primer of a slightly different coloured or as I would (and more proficient, professional body preparers would) suggest a guide coat to show up discrepancies in the body before finishing.
Light grey dark grey. Thesetwo greys I would think are all the same procedure. This is what I did on my bodywork. By using different colours of primer you can easily see the high and low points of the bodywork. Having said that, from memory (and some of you out there will know my memory! What ever your names are!) I can only remember one shade of grey primer on my phase 1 shell. And it was very thick and the only way it would come off was with a hot air gun and a scrapper. If you used abrasives it would just go soft and clog up the paper.
Silver. Yes, which leaves us silver, which I personally dont think they did as a factory colour. I'm sure they did offer grey along with BRG, white, red, blue and yellow.
Bright yellow. Agreed. But I have no pictures, references to this colour and dont know to a phase 1 in this colour..nice though!
Blue agreed. And a very convincing shade of blue. There are a lot of cars this shade.
BRG. Agreed. And again a colour I can vouch for.
So all thats of no help to you then!
I would suggest you try a few different areas. Lower down the body, were the preparation maybe less. This may tell a different story. Also try the front and back, were accident damage maybe evident. And inside door edges, door shuts, hinge plates, air intake/grill etc. all areas that may not have had all the changes/preparation done.

Hi Atle, I agree with all that Nigel has said, in my experience the general factory process is two primer coats, a dark and a light grey, one of which is a very thick layer, which I imagine is to rectify imperfections in the bodies! It is also bloody difficult to remove!! If that is one primer and then BRG I would imagine the car has had a body repair as I have never seen a factory car like that. (But it doesn't mean it isn't, confused now aren't you?!) Like Nigel says look somewhere else, underneath the rear lights is a good place. Hi Yes I agree Nigel and Ian I suspect that the original colour was Gray, and the rest is reesprays in various colours.
But whitch colour to choose on my car, is the ultumate question???
When I first got the car home, I thought BRG was nice on the car. But I thought I would paint it in metallic. In the later weeks I hav began thinking on a dark gray/silver metallic colour. Maybe Gun-gray??? But as time goes by I can not decide which colour to paint in. And is it fair to the car to respray with metallic paint???
Please give me your favorite colur, so I got something to think about.....
My veiw on colours. If originality is required then the original grey ( my own choice would be this if you are now certain on the colour) or possibley other original colour. If you are not worried what ever colour you like.
Try having a go on the roof as there maybe less disturbance/repair work done here. I have no problems with any colour so long as another car gets on the road! Metallics. The oldest and totally original car that I have seen in metallic was a 1934 SS 100 jaguar, and it looked beautiful. I would suggest light colours as these cars already get hot in the summer months and a lighter colour is more forgiving to wobberly GRP!! Hence my car is Old English White...ish.
yea I had thought years ago about this green or the lovely light metalic blue BUT I decided that the car will just be mistaken for an Aston and not what it really is, a far better looking car

well, mine is a Porsche silver from early sixties... a bit battered now , but when it came from the spray shop.. Stunning!!! even the Hot Girl in our town with her Benz 320 stopped and said 'what a gorgeous car' and I reckon it's still the best looking car I've ever seen..
