Gearbox cover help
(Preview)
Hello, can anyone confirm if the gearbox cover is from a TR3? If so, does it use the same gaiters for the gear lever and handbrake? Mine never had either, hence the question. All the best, Gary

Switch identification
(Preview)
Hi, What is the switch for? I found it under the passenger carpeting, and the green wiring goes into the same harness as the overdrive wires. It's a spring switch, ie when i push one end of the bar it will spring back when i let go. I know i should know it, but I don't... dave

Peerless Handbrake
(Preview)
One of the numerous small things my car was missing on purchase were the handbrake cables. Fortunately, the handbrake itself was still there. Equally fortunately, I managed to get a set of cables (the last set, I believe) from Nick Copeland. Thanks again, Nick. Unfortunately, I have no idea how the...

Wiring Diagram
(Preview)
Back in Nov. 2012 TomW was good enough to include an attachment for a wiring diagram in his post, I have been using it ever since. But that one was not very clear and I never could really read the letter codes for the various wires shown. The previous owner of my '59 Peerless had pulled the engine and trans a...

Original radiators
(Preview)
Hi I have been told - I think - that the original radiators used in the Phase 2 Peerless were from a Standard 10? Clearly the header tank was .... modified... Can anyone confirm/deny this...? I have contacted the Standard 10 parts supply and they have lots of radiators suitable for restoration for £25 +...

Peerless door lock (inner door) mechanism.
(Preview)
All, Sadly, my Peerless came with missing exterior door handles and inner door mechanisms. I have purchased new Standard 8 / 10 door handles for the exterior, but am interested in knowing if the rest of the mechanism is Standard 8 /10 as well. Also, if anyone has spares (left and right), I would be del...

Revealed! Original fitment of window lifter levers discovered
(Preview)
One of the last great Peerless mysteries has been solved by a Classics Monthly reader who's been following the exploits of my Phase 1. He has identified the elegant window quick-lift lever used in our cars. The quick-lift mechanism is also fitted to the same vehicle, making for at least three sources...

Differentials
(Preview)
I am happy to report that Salisbury transmissions (Dean Spires) is alive and well in Harlow and is still able to rebuild Peerless and Warwick Diffs. He has mine from Warwick #15 at the moment to sort out that annoying knock that's still in the transmission after I've replaced the crunchy "white box" UJ...

Ph1 Aluminum sill material
(Preview)
Searching for new diamond styled aluminum sheet material to cover the sills (door and trunk) have yielded no results. I would like to maintain the original look. For those not familiar with the design it looks like this: I suspect that it was stamped. It is pretty inconsistent. I experimented wit...

Chassis Drawing available?
(Preview)
Hello all together, now I de-assembled my Peerless 206 completely and I start to work with the chassis frame. The chassis frame has some damages from accidents (it was a race car). Has anyone drawings, plans from the chassis? I want to re-build the chassis in the original design. Actually, the middle...

J-Type OD
(Preview)
Folks.... Has anybody fitted a 4-synchro box with J-type O/D to a P/W? After an afternoon struggling, the tail of the box seems to be too high to get the box to mate cleanly with the block, and it looks like the gearbox mount plate on the chassis fouling the O/D is the problem area. The TR3 "conversion plat...

Sun Visor?

I am working towards getting the interior finished on my car. Some pictures show a sun visor of some kind that I don't have. Did the car originally come with one? If so, anyone have a picture? And, any ideas for a source for one? Thanks. Steve

Door Glass Weather Seals
(Preview)
I am actively pounding away at restoring the doors on Peerless 213. I am looking for a source for the aluminum/rubber door glass trim strips. These are the finishing pieces that run along the top of the door and contain a small rubber wiper. Any hints would be most appreciated. Thanks, Dean

Front lower inner suspension bushes.

As the title suggests, can anyone advise on the correct part number or, better still, the correct polybush? I got a full set of 16 (8 sets of 2) polybushes from Rimmers and whilst the top bushes fit the upper fulcrum pin with no problem, the same bushes will not fit the lower fulcrums. The diameter of the l...

Phase I brake pipe sets

I read with interest Gary's latest installment of his Peerless restoration in the February (?) edition of Practical Classics and noticed that he had used a set of Automec TR3 pipes. I'm not sure if other owners are aware but Automec actually do a full set of pipes specifically for the Peerless. They'...
