This is my first posting and apologies but it's going to be a long one and a cheeky request.
Many years ago, my dad used to have a Peerless GT, back when he and my mum were first dating, probably in the late 60's. All I know about it is from the two small photo's we have, which I've attempted to upload below. It was black with a large webasto type roof, but most strikingly it had the registration plate GT 123, which must be worth a fair bit these days, although I know that this plate was transferred to a different vehicle at some point after my dad sold the car. I remember him telling me the story of how he came to sell the car on safety grounds shortly after watching a similar car in a sports car race at Mallory Park, which rolled and ripped its roof clean off, presumably no roll cage!
Sadly my dad passed away some 15 years ago, before I really got into cars, so I never really had a chance to speak to him about it. I'd love to track down that car, or at least find out more about it. But also more pressingly I'd love to provide another ride for my mum in one of these beautiful and very rare cars. It's her 75th birthday in June and it would be such an amazing treat for her if I was able to arrange a passenger ride in one, I'm sure it would evoke many happy memories. Hence we get to my request, I'm humbly asking if there is anyone in the Yorkshire/Derbyshire area of England who has a Peerless and would be willing to spend a few hours of their time to take my mum on a trip down memory lane. I'm also prepared to travel further afield to meet up close to where a car might be.
I'm also a massive petrolhead so would love to see one up close myself, and even considering buying one. I'm willing to pay for the privilege of the ride, and can also offer a reciprocal ride in my Aston Martin V8 Vantage to help sweeten the deal, if modern cars float your boat.
If you know of anyone who may be able to help, please contact me at jameshunt74@gmail.com
I'm the registrar for these cars and I have had this type of request before, believe it or not for such a small production car, they really seem to stick on peoples memory.
I have sent you a pm.
I'm in Worcestershire and did just this sort of thing a few years ago and it was great fun and the recipient really enjoyed herself. there are other members closer, maybe one or two might jump in and help out.
