New Peerless badges NOW AVAILABLE!

Hello everyone,

My apologies for the delay with these. Circumstances beyond my control bumped them way down my list of priorities.

Anyhow, I have made the first batch and am satisfied enough to share them with your good selves. And just in time for Christmas. I guarantee they smell better than Nigel's WD40 shaving foam.

They are chrome over brass, galvanised steel backing and have a self-adhesive pad. The colours are UV stable and the badge is waterproof. I recommend working as much car wax into the chrome and exposed metal backing as you can before removing the self-adhesive peel wrap. That's what I'll be doing.

Price is £25 each plus postage of your choice. I'll put them in padded envelopes when sending.

Send me PM for bank transfer details or my phone number or email details. You can pay via Paypal but please add 5 per cent (£1.25) to your total plus postage. I've included the Royal Mail's tariffs for signed delivery UK and Worldwide. See the attached photo.

If you want them in time for Christmas let me know ASAP in case demand is heavy. I have enough for about 20 pairs currently.

All the best,

Gary

Gary,

Great job.  I am ready to plunk down for two.

I sent payment to your private email address.   2 x 25.00 + 11.99 shipping + 2 x 1.25 paypal  = 64.49.  Hope that's right!

Dean

Hello everyone,

the first batch is on its way and should be delivered over the next few days. A nice feeling knowing they've gone to owners around the world.

I look forward to seeing pics of your cars wearing their new bling.

All I have left from the first batch is 6 badges. I have more of the badge but will need to reorder rims and backing pieces beyond that, so don't leave it too late. I don't want to disappoint anyone so PM me please for my email address to make a payment.

All the best,

Gary

Badges arrived today, safe and sound.

I have to say, what a great job. Very impressive.

Well done, Gary.

All I need now is for someone to tell me exactly where they go. Any pointers??

(Before someone states the obvious, I realise one will go on the bonnet (hood) and another on the boot (trunk), but where, precisely?)

not necessarily so...................

Ok. One goes on the nose, not the bonnet. But is there a particular position or do I plonk it where I think it looks best? I don't want to turn up at some show and get laughed at because the badge is 1/8" too far up the nose. You know how critical some of these TR guys can be.

Not that I'm anywhere close to positioning badges at the moment but it would be nice to know.

Hello Mike, glad you like the badges. That's a big relief for me to know. Some pics attached of my car showing front and rear badge mounting positions on a Phase 1. Phase 2 would be the rear position only. Both positions marked by the two holes for the  long ears of the original badge backings. Hope this helps. Post pics when you've fitted them?

All the best, Gary

Thanks, Gary. As I too have a Phase 1, that's a big help. Don't hold your breath for pics, it could be well into next year before I get to that stage.

No problem Mike. Patience has a part number in the Peerless spares catalogue...

I now have 4 badges left from the first batch.

Best wishes and seasonal greetings to all,

Gary

on the positioning side of things can I just add a comment. I removed the rear badge off my car very soon after getting it on the road in 1999 as there was an alarming amount of tailgating going

on by people trying to read the badge. Now we have camera phones its not so bad although I do frequently get "circled" by cars on the motorway.

My father also had this problem with the Cluley as they would overtake in daft places and then brake to read the badge in the rear view mirror......not good when you only have rear wheel brakes, 3"

wide tyres set at 60 psi! no

The Royal Mail's tariffs for signed UK and Worldwide delivery is £2.50 UK and £8.99 Rest of the World. The express delivery tariffs to the USA and Australia I previously quoted appear to have been the stuff of fiction. My local village post office couldn't find them at all. I will refund the difference to those who overpaid for USA and Australia.

If you want them in time for Christmas let me know ASAP in case demand is heavy. I have enough for about 20 pairs currently.

All the best,

Gary

Hello, I've tried updating the original post but it's not playing ball, hence the repetition.

Due to a lack of the tariffs quoted for overseas delivery I had to send them the next most affordable way which costs £8.99 and taks about a week to the USA and Australia. A faster option is available but costs a whopping £54!

Gary,

Badges made it to California!  Looks great.  Now I have two shiny parts to protect (and not loose) until the body is finished.

Not sure if I passed the math exercise, but if I own you any money, please let me know and I'll PayPal over the difference. :)

Thanks again,

 Dean

Ouch. I do owe the vintage web thread an update, but there is still much work ahead. It isn't that I have done nothing with the car toys in the mean time, the others just pushed their way to the front of the line.  The 88 BMW M5 got a full engine and transmission rebuild. The Warwick transmission and overdrive were rebuilt.  The old two cylinder diesel Kubota got a much needed rebuild and the Lotus finally got the OMEX ITBs that the Ford Zetex needed to run properly...and we painted the house for Pete's sake.

With the new glass in hand and badges the Peerless is back to the top of the list!

Dean
