Radiator

How is the radiator held in its brackets?
I have the two dogleg sheet metal pieces attached to the car and the radiator, but I don't know what actually holds them together.
The radiator doesn't have any brackets attached to it.

Hi Rich,

I have the two Z shapes on the chassis and two long flat plates on the sides of the rad.

I made (cus I didnt have one) a grp intake from the nose to the rad and put a U section rubber on the inner edge. Then I fitted the rad and it seems to have a 10mm-3/8 gap between both.

so I cut two oak strips with a tapper on the one end about 12mm thick and just tap them in. This pushes the rad into the U section rubber on the air intake and hold it all secure.

If I need to get the rad out I just tap the wood back up from the bottom....simples

Whilst the rad was out "one time" I made this U section steel to sit over the front tube. When I need a tow i just bolt a towing eye to the two captive nuts and the eye protrudes out past the bodywork.

this was devised after the ammeter blew out of the dash (note to all, when fitting an Alternator...fit a fuse!) at 50mph in the third lane of the A40 (north London) at 10pm on my way back from a round trip of 400 miles stopping off

at the Ace Cafe for a burger and pint!

Nigel,
That towing plate is inspired!! When Art and I finally get going on #92 that will be one of the first modifications we will do!

Good stuff!
