Fuel Lines

Hi all

My last journey in the Warwick ended on the back of a recovery truck...

The main fuel line from in the transmission tunnel came loose and the prop rubbed a nice big hole in itashamed.

The current arrangement is a rubber fuel hose from front to rear, is this corrent?  I guess a copper pipe would be better, has anyone run the pipe though one of the sills alongside one of the tanks?

Any ideas or advice would be welcome.

Cheers

Joe

Copper pipe works just fine and fits the same compression fittings as the black plastic stuff, which is probably well past it's best by now.

Holdens (amongst others) will sell you the pipe and replacement olives if you want to re-use the fittings.  The tool for putting nice bends in the pipe makes it much easier, and avoids kinking the pipe.

I would suggest that the last bit of the run, from the water trap across the top of  the engine to the carbs is better in a rubber hose, this will insulate the fuel from the under-bonnet heat and help stop vaporisation.

Not a fun job outside in this weather!

Hi Frank

Thanks for the reply.

I managed to run an 8mm copper fuel pipe next to the tank in the NS Sill with rubber fuel hose and a t piece joining the 2 pumps together.  I just have to connect the front of the copper pipe to the glass bowl filter now.

The fuel pipework under the bonnet is fairly new so should be ok for now.

Cheers

Joe
