Rather short notice but we didn't know if we were going to get there! Our Warwick GT350 which Ian has spent three years ad a lot of blood, sweat and money on is out at Snetterton on Sunday. It will be running in the Swinging Sixties two driver race with the Classic Sports Car Club. A GT 350 first ran in 1961 at Snetterton, it was number 24 and primrose yellow, both of which our car is. We believe that it is the first time a GT350 has raced since 1962. So wish us luck everyone, as we haven't even driven it on the road yet let alone a track. It has a Buick 3.5 V8 in it. (Ian is putting the finishing touches to it now!)
A lovely sunny day, several members of the gang present in support, and the car looks good and sounds even better. Holds it's own in a mixed grid of E-types, Corvettes and other assorted V8s.
Thanks for that Frank, it was indeed a memorable occasion. I shall be writing a full report for TRaction but the car was fantastic to race, went beautifully (thanks to Ians' expertise and John Eales V8 bits.) Nigel, Frank Jones, Flash Frank and Duncan were there from the P&W brigade, thanks guys for your unerring support and many other friends were also there. Gareth, the Peerless is resting but will be out later in the Season. Can't post photos here but anyone who wants them please e-mail me at epona@hotmail.co.uk -- Gareth already got yours so I'll send you some. can't wait till next race, but I'll keep you all informed. C&I
Hi Celia, Really wish I could have been there but I had to work! Frank had a fabulous time & says we should make Silverstone. I have you taking the e-type on the bend as my desk-top! Fab!!! Take care, have missed you loads, Lesley
Thanks Lesley, We've missed you too, please do try to come next time, hopefully Silverstone May 17th but we will let everyone know nearer the time. It was a great feeling sliding past the E type! We both enjoyed driving it very much. All our P&W friends were as usual absolutely fanatstic, so was everyone who came to cheer us on!
Ian and Celia, what can I say, thankyou so much for doing 200 CPO justice, I'm so very glad that it went to two people that have the energy, drive, enthusiasm and sheer madness to restore her! I salute you both.
THANKYOU you have no idea how much this means to me I so very nearly made you bring her back !
Jon, How fantastic to hear from you and thank-you so so much for those lovely words. We love 200 CPO and we are looking forward to racing her (him?) Hopefully we will get FIA papers through, we went to Goodwood to get them done. The car has already been in Autosport twice so famous already! Please come and see CPO soon. I will e-mail you a.s.a.p.
The car is entered into the Triumph Jigsaw race at Mallory on Bank Holiday Monday May 25th. hopefully also in the Swinging Sixties two driver race on the same day. Providing all goes well I will be racing it at Silverstone on Sunday May 17th in the CTCRC Classic and Historic 15 min race. We'll let you know definitely soon.
