May I say that I was the lucky one to see this counter click over to 40,000 hits well done Jon, the site is doing well? I know that the forum has raised the traffic considerably but all the same for about 300 cars in total wwhooo
Nice to see that it's popular, but I wouldn't admit that I drive around looking at the digits on the odometer. I did wonder whether Jon had fixed it so it counted the pop-ups as well....
I'm sorry about the pop-ups Frank but unless I pay out even more money for the privilege of running the club they will be here to stay. Unfortunately I had to go for the 'free' forum package, which is inevitably funded by advertising. I pay for the costs involved in running the club website (50Mb of webspace, peerless-gt domain registration fees, broadband for fast upload as well as download etc.) so that we can keep a little independence. I am not comfortable with the TR Register owning (via funding) the Peerless Website, however that is in no way meant to be irreverent to them, I think they serve us very well indeed. The fact is that the vast majority of our membership are not members of the TR Register and I don't want us to ever get in to the situation where they are excluded just because they are not members of the TR Register. After all, the Peerless & Warwick Owners Register has existed far longer than the TR Register.
Frank: I would suggest downloading some anti-popup software if it's becoming a nuisance. There is plenty of this free ad-blocking software available on the Internet and I have included some links below. Alternatively, explorer has a built in ad-blocker in Windows XP and that works a treat for me. I thought you would have known this being an IT wiz Frank !
I don't get any pop ups, Maybe because I use Norton. Well done on the site, even though most of the hits are my mates, I bribe them to get the Warwick to over take the Phase 1 in vote for you favourite car! As you can see I am failing.
I notice that the word " membership" is used that would suggest subscriptions, I know that the registrar spends a lot of time and money trying to keep everyone in line, maybe it is time to levy a small fee to help with costs (other clubs do). We could also have a members area where we could share stuff more freely, with new chassis and possible new body bits available, who knows we might start converting TR bods with rusty bodies! They could help support the web site costs in the same way that Peerless/Warwick help the TR site.
Seriously I think that it may be time to help support and grow The P & WOR
Seems to me that you poms go very quiet around here when you talk about digging into the old back pocket, fair dinkum to the old registrar fella , maybe he could be in for a bit of support , after all the web site is not a bad affair
