I am the new owner of #213. The car is safely at it's new home in Southern California. It is in need of a fair amount of work, but no more than I have seen most of you tackle. Some frame rust repairs, broken rear shock mount, frozen engine, poor fiberglass repairs, etc.
The left hand side door, sill and fender panels between the wheel wells are in sad shape and would benefit immediatly from replacement GRP. LH door is almost a total loss. Could use a real door replacement - frame and skin.
Happy to register and provide photos...
Hope to restore #213 to all it's original glory. Thanking you in advance,
Dean (Healey BN7, Lotus S2, Range Rover, Peerless #213)
Thanks for get in touch with me and good to see you've flagged it with the greater masses even if the look a bit shy at the moment Any help we can give let us know, I'm sure #213 will benefit from a little TLC after all these years
I was set to buy #213 from a guy near Lompoc who had bought it from the camera ads from a guy in Templeton. We worked out a deal, I had the trailer attached to the truck and my wife came out as I was driving out to get it and threatened divorce if I brought it home. It then went to that guy in Ventura. Where are you? I really wanted to bring the car back to life and found a door handle for it already before I actually bought it. Is it running yet? It was really sad last time I saw it and I wish you luck. I would enjoy seeing the car again while it is being restored.
My son took a photo of me backing up the trailer as my wife was taking away my checkbook. She looked at the car (parts) and said, "I think I'll hang onto the checkbook going forward." I'm still married:)
I am in Southern California - Thousand Oaks. I am pretty sure the car has not improved since you saw it last... I have not had a chance to do anything yet but bring it home.
I have been in contact with C&I. Together we outlined the replacement panels that are needed to bring the car back to life. Can't wait to get my hands on them!
I am reluctant to pull any panels off until I have the replacement panels in hand. I would like to have all the panels properly positioned before I pull the body off for the frame restoration.
No matter how you look at it the left door is a disaster. If you want to part with the door handle, you probably know that I could really use one!
We should time a get together around the time the replacement panels arrive. I could use a second set of eyes or ideas fitting the replacements.
